The first six years of a child’s life are critical in laying a sound foundation for a child’s lifelong learning. It is known as the early childhood stage. The pace of development in these years is extremely rapid. Early childhood years are where the brain undergoes rapid development. It is in these years cognitive skills i.e. the foundation for reading math, science and academics, the social and psycho motor competencies significantly develop which contribute to success in life. Early childhood education is also important as a foundation for inculcating social, personal and moral values. In fact, the New National Education Policy 2018, has designed a curriculum for two years of preschool before class 1 which includes three major goals to be achieved highlighting the key concepts /skills, the pedagogical processes and learning outcomes for preschool .
